Cleethorpes & District Swimming Club Emergency Procedures
For Cleethorpes &
District Swimming the safety of all swimmers/members is of the up most
paramount. However the club recognises
even in the most controlled circumstances accidents/incidents can happen
General Guidelines
- Swimmers should not be on poolside without a
member of the coaching staff and lifeguard present.
- A session register should be taken at the START
of every session. This
register also has emergency contact details of swimmer on it
- If you have a new swimmer who is not on your
register ensure you have their details before they get in the
water.
- Always keep a copy of the Club accident form
with your register
- Ensure who are aware of the position of the
emergency telephone
- Ensure you are aware of the position of the
first aid box/pool incident report form
- Be aware of the emergency exits and ensure they
are not blocked with bags, or other equipment
- The Club Welfare officer has the Club
Accident/Incident book
If an incident occurs
- Ensure everyone is safe and clear the pool if
necessary
- Raise the alarm
- If you are at a school pool, ensure the lead
coach/poolstaff/lifeguard is aware of the incident.
- If in a local authority run pool ie.
Grimsby/Immingham/Cleethorpes Swimming pool their staff will take control
of the situation, please follow their instructions
- Whilst dealing with any incident, ensure the
rest of the group are properly supervised
- Do not move someone with major injuries, wait
for specialist help
- Should the pool need to be cleared ensure
swimmers return to the changing rooms to collect their belongings in an
orderly fashion
- Contact parents guardians to inform them of the
situation. (emergency contact number on
session register)
- If it becomes necessary to clear the building,
ensure swimmers leave by a safe exit and only return to the changing rooms
to collect belongings if it is safe to do so
- A head count should be done to ensure all are
accounted for
- Swimmers not leave until collected by a
parent/guardian
Accident/Incident
reports
All accidents or incidents
should be recorded on an accident form. All pool staff have a copy of this and should keep one with
their session register.
This form should be forwarded to the Club Welfare Officer
who has the Accident log book.
Any accidents/incidents
should also be recorded in the pool accident book and the school/pool operator
informed

Havelock Pool – On top of the First Aid Box in the Medical room in
the bottom right of the pool CADS first aid box in our equipment cage
Whitgift – In the first Aid box in the equipment storage
cupboard adjacent to the small pool.

Grimsby Swimming Pool – The pool staff will deal with any first aid
incidents and record any details on their accident form. CADS staff should also ensure they have a
record the accident/incident along with relevant witness details
