Best of
British for CASA
The swimming stars of Cleethorpes & Scunthorpe Aquatics (CASA) have demonstrated their growing reputation in the water in emphatic style with a stunning eleven swimmers qualifying for the ASA National Age Group and Youth Championships this year in a total of thirty five events. The previous best achievement for the club was in 2004 when four swimmers qualified in a total of fourteen events.
To put this achievement into perspective CASA have many more swimmers qualified than a number of big city clubs with Council funded programmes. For example, in the Age Group Championships, 606 swimmers have qualified nationally from 197 swimming clubs and only 11 clubs in the whole of the UK will have more swimmers represented than CASA. To name but a few this means CASA have more swimmers qualified than Liverpool, Newcastle, Sheffield, Hull, Cardiff, Bradford, Leicester and Coventry.
Chief Coach Nathan Hilton said This is a fantastic achievement for the swimmers as the qualifying times are the toughest they have ever been and only about twenty swimmers have qualified in each event in the whole of the UK in each age group. Anyone involved in competitive swimming will understand how big an achievement this is and it is further evidence of the progress we have made. This puts our swimmers and the club at the very top of the sport nationally for age group swimming and we believe we are on the verge of something very special.
