Policy to Promote a Safe and Supportive Environment for all CADS Members
Cleethorpes & District Swimming Club have decided to implement a written anti-bullying policy that is applicable to all swimmers, parents and staff. This policy will be reviewed on an annual basis.
The purpose of Cleethorpes & District Swimming Clubs Anti-Bullying Policy is to promote a consistent approach, and to create a climate in which all types of bullying are regarded as unacceptable. Moreover, all members, parents and staff will be expected to ensure that the policy is adhered to. Bullying, be it verbal, physical, retaliatory or reactive will not be tolerated within Cleethorpes & District Swimming Club.
Aims of Policy
To promote a secure and happy environment free from threat, harassment and any type of bullying behaviour.
To take positive action in preventing bullying from occurring through a clear policy.
To show commitment to overcoming bullying by practising zero tolerance.
To inform all swimmers, staff and parents of Cleethorpes & District Swimming Clubs expectations, and to develop a positive and productive partnership which will help to maintain a bully-free environment.
To make staff, parents and swimmers aware of their part in adopting the above aims in order to achieve a bully-free environment.
Achieving Aims
To implement clear procedures to confront bullying in any form.
To operate a clear reporting and recording procedure.
To listen to all parties involved in the incident.
To deal with and investigate all reports as soon as possible, fairly and positively, taking account of the evidence and all views.
To take appropriate action, or refer the matter to the Executive Committee for further action/decision.
To record and inform parents of bullying incidents.
To offer advice and support to the victim.
Procedure
1. All reported incidents should be taken seriously and responded to quickly.
2. Following the report of an incident, all parties concerned should be interviewed by their squad coach and a member of the Executive Committee.
3. Interviews will be fully documented as soon as possible in Cleethorpes & District Swimming Clubs ‘Register of Bully Incidents'
4. Should the incident/s be considered serious enough, parents/carers are to be notified in writing of the alleged incident/s and be invited to respond.
5. If considered serious, the executive committee will convene and discuss the incident/s and decide on the appropriate action to be taken.
6. All outcomes to be recorded.
(If an allegation of bullying has been made against a member of staff or a parent the above procedures will be followed excluding no.4)
