Zach's Gold & Silver on International Debut
Whilst the rest of the Cleethorpes & District Swimming squad were competing at the County Sprints & relays at Ponds Forge International pool Zach Amin travelled to Grangemouth in Scotland for his first taste of International Competition.
After qualifying for the English Schools W.I.S.E. International Competition earlier in the year at Manchester Zach produced another Stellar performance & Personal Best time of 1.12.17 in the Junior Boys 100metre Breaststroke to take silver & then produced a stunning 33.12 relay split to help the English relay team to take gold in the Junior Boys 200 Individual Medley Relay.
Competing against teams from Wales, Ireland & Scotland the competition was tough as shown by the senior teams at the recent Commonwealth Games held in Melbourne, Australia, but to come away with Gold & Silver medal was an unbelievable achievement on an International debut.
CADS Chief Coach Nathan Hilton said “ To come away from this competition with two medals one of them Gold is unprecedented in our Clubs history & is a testament to the hard work, dedication and talent that Zach has shown. Hopefully this result will move swimming in the area forward and performances will become even stronger & just shows that anything is possible with hard work & dedication.
Zach now has the chance to follow in the footsteps of former teammate Ashley Davies & compete in the International Schools Sports Festival, which is to be held in Athens, Greece later in the year.
Ashley competed in this same event two years ago whilst swimming for Cleethorpes & District S.C. and later on in the year went on to achieve National success winning Gold in the 14 yrs 100 Freestyle at National Champs.
Hopefully Zach will be able to replicate these achievements as he has won two silver medals & a bronze medal at National Championships in the previous two years and between now & July will be working towards attaining further Gold medal success at Nationals. |
