CADS JUNIOR SWIMMERS BECOME CLUBS
MOST SUCCESSFUL JUNIOR TEAM EVER Cleethorpes & District Swimming Club junior swimmers took to the water at Yarborough Leisure Centre in Lincoln on Saturday 16 th September 2006 for the final of the Lincolnshire Junior League.
Going into the final CADS were placed second & did not want to slip up & lose any places. The swimmers were not to disappoint & in the process became the most successful CADS junior team ever, before Saturday the team had never finished any higher than 3rd place so overall it has been an outstanding season for the teams junior swimmers.
Having been 120 points behind Lincolnshire's top Junior team (Lincoln Vulcan's) in last years final CADS have now halved that gap to only 60 points in one season & are now proving to be a force to be reckoned with.
On the night the team had members from the senior team (Ryan Wadham, Anna Dimmock & Steph Gladding) supporting the juniors on the lane end which helped produce some inspired swims from the youngsters most notable from Thomas Paine, Callum Gladding & the Boys 9yrs relay teams( Oliver Webster, James Burke, Ryan Catley, Tim Flowers & Joe Long).
The swimmers showed excellent team sprit and all contributed to the teams overall success but first places on the night came from Boys 9yrs FC relay (James Burke, Ryan Catley, Oliver Webster & Joe Long), Georgia Cragg Girls 10yrs 50 Brst, Holly Smith Girls 9yrs 25 Brst, Ryan Catley Boys 9yrs 25 BC & the boys 9yrs IM relay (Ryan Catley, Tim Flowers, James Burke & Oliver Webster).
With an impressive 16 second places CADS swimmers only came outside the top four places 7 times in 49 events & shows the strength & depth the team is now producing.
CADS Chief Coach Nathan Hilton said “ We have got some rising stars in this team with some of the 9 year olds only having been with us for a couple of months. The potential for the future is very promising with the club having so many talented junior swimmers coming through the system. We have an excellent team sprit now & all the swimmers support each other to the end.
Having lost three of our 11 year old boys in the last 3 months a special mention must go to Callum Gladding, Harvey Webb-Jones & Connor Plumtree who not only swam in the 10yrs age group but also swam in the 11 yrs boys events gaining some crucial points for the team along the way, well done boys. All the success is down to the excellent coaching staff we have within the club now & is a credit to them.”
The CADS Junior & Senior swimmers now move onto this years Speedo League which starts on Saturday 14 th October where they will be looking to make the top six teams & the regional final after coming 7 th & agonisingly close to the final in the last two seasons. |
