CASA IN SECOND ROUND OF LINCS JUNIOR LEAGUE

Cleethorpes & Scunthorpe Aquatics (CASA) took to the water for a home gala at Scartho Baths, Grimsby on Saturday 19 th May looking to put themselves into a good position to challenge Lincoln Vulcan's in the final on 15 th September and they were not to disappoint.

Buoyed by the return of several of there top swimmers that were not available in the first round due to a long course training camp in Barcelona, Spain CASA ‘A' team won five out of the first eight relay events and were not to look back all evening keep the lead from event 6 right through till the last event winning by a massive 32 points.

Overall CASA ‘A' team won 23 out of the 49 events coming second in 17 events and only coming outside the top 2 places in 9 events which showed the teams strength & depth which will be crucial if the are to succeed in the Final against a strong Lincoln Vulcan's team.

Wins on the evening came from the Girls 12 yrs medley relay team, Girls 10yrs free & medley relay teams, Boys 10 yrs free & medley relay teams, Girls 11yrs free & medley relay teams, Boys 11yrs free & medley teams, M.Unwin Girls 10yrs 50 breast & 25 fly, O.Webster Boys 10yrs 50 breast & 25 fly, K.Skinner Boys 11yrs 50 back, C.Gladding Boys 12yrs 50 fly, S.Cragg Girls 9yrs 25 breast, R.Catley Boys 10yrs 50 back & 50 free, A.Snow Girls 10yrs 50 fly, C.Gladding Boys 11yrs 50 fly, L.York Girls 12yrs 50 breast, H.Williams Girls 9yrs 25 fly.

Also swimming on the evening in the same gala were the CASA ‘B' team who ended up coming away with a credible 5 th place & currently lying in 7 th place in the league just outside the ‘A' final. There were numerous personal best swims & top 2 finishes but unfortunately no wins on the night.

Coach Nathan Hilton said “Our aim is to give our children the best possible opportunity of competing against the best teams in the country. At the moment the club is vibrant with some outstanding performances being produced.

CASA ‘A' - 256 Points

Lincoln Pentaqua ‘A' – 224 Points

Louth - 182 Points

Lincoln Vulcan's – 131 Points

CASA ‘B' - 124 Points

Grimsby Santa Marina – 79 Points
