CADS SECURE SECOND CONSECUTIVE WIN IN LINCS LEAGUE
Cleethorpes & District Swimming Club took to the water at Grantham's, Meres Leisure Centre on Saturday 13 th May in the second round of the Lincolnshire League looking for there second consecutive in this competition & to put some pressure on the dominant force in the competition for the previous 10 years Lincoln Vulcans.
CADS were looking to be the first serious competition to Lincoln Vulcans in the last 5 years going into the Final Round on 8 th July & the swimmers did not disappoint coming the competition unscathed & winning by an impressive 17 points. It going to be a close competition but in the end CADS recent good form, strength & depth of team came through for a comfortable victory.
CADS started off with 4 wins in the opening twelve events from An. Dimmock (Girls Open 100 Free), T.Paine (Boys 12yrs 50 BC), R.Yeung (Girls Open 100 BRST) & M.Unwin (Girls 10yrs 50 Fly) to be leading by 1 point from South Lincs.
After the first twelve events CADS stepped on the gas & started to pull away from the field winning another 13 events in the evening picking up numerous second & third place finishes & never coming outside the top five all evening. Other winners included Girls 10yrs IM relay, Girls Open Free Relay, R.Yeung Girls 14Yrs 100 BC, Boys 12/u Free Relay, An.Dimmock Girls Open 100 Fly, A.Donnington Boys 14yrs 100 BRST, R.Yeung Girls 14yrs 100 Brst, T.Paine Boys 12yrs 50 Fly, G.Craggs Girls 10yrs 50 BRST, T.Butler Boys 12yrs 50 Free, Girls Open Free Relay, Girls 14/u Free Relay & Boys 12yrs IM relay.
CADS also finished the evening with an impressive 17 Personal Best times from 32 individual events with some exceptionally fast relay split times.
Overall the team performance was amazing as all the children were supporting each other & cheering each other on the end of the lane all evening lead by one of the teams main characters Ryan Wadham who at present is injured & cannot swim.
Chief Coach Nathan Hilton said, “ Overall the performance from the team was amazing considering the hard work that we have been putting in over the past few weeks in preparation for the upcoming District & National Championships which are the clubs main focus of the year. So to put in a performance like this when in full training fills me with confidence that we can really challenge Lincoln Vulcans for the title this year.”
The club has never finished higher than third in the league so to be going into final in second place is unchartered territory & shows how far the club has come in the last three years.
